The job of an aromatherapist is to improve the lives of others through the use of aromas. They work in a wide variety of settings including hospitals, hospices, wellness centers, private practices and spas.

In India there are no specific qualifications or degree requirements for becoming an aromatherapist. However the government has released guidelines for a training program that will be offered by the All India Organization for Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD) in collaboration with The National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT).

An Aromatherapist is a person who uses aromatic plant oils to improve physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.

Aromatherapists use essential oils, which are distilled from plants that are often aromatic. They use these oils to create personal blends for their clients.

An aromatherapist can work in different settings like hospitals, spas, beauty salons, wellness centers and with individuals at home.

In India, the eligibility for an Aromatherapist is 10+2 or its equivalent qualification in any stream from a recognized board of education. The payscale ranges from Rs 20k to Rs 50k per month depending on the level of education and experience.
